چکیده

\ DL Abstract A multiple access protocol with a Eoperative channel (COCH) and a COCH allocation scheme to improve the delay and throughput of a minislot ALOHA reservation protocol is proposed. In it, the request access (RA) message of a mobile terminal (MT) is randomly piggybacked to the base station ( B S ) through a COCH minislot in the uplink (UL) provided by its assistor MT which is assigned by the BS. The simulation results show that the performance of a two minislot ALOHA reservation protocol is improved by combining itself with a protocol which has one ALOHA RA minislot plus one COCH RA minislot. Under heavy RA traffic load, replacing one ALOHA RA minislot with one COCH RA minislot in a multiple access protocol which has multiple (>3) RA minislots will stabilise the delaythroughput performance of the MRMA protocol even at the normalised throughput of 99%; the average packet delay is nearly at the same level under light throughput. The overhead of one COCH minislot is 1 bit information plus guard time.

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

A method to increasing the Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless body area networks by providing a MAC layer Protocol based of Internet of Things

With the development of technology, the use of wireless telecommunication networks for the various affairs is essential. These networks are one of the safest and most widely used networks, for instance, in medical care and remote patient monitoring. What matters is the quality of service in these networks. The purpose of this paper is to increase packet transduction in a wireless body area netw...

A multichannel CSMA MAC protocol for multihop wireless networks

We describe a new carrier–sense multiple access (CSMA) protocol for multihop wireless networks, sometimes also called ad hoc networks. The CSMA protocol divides the available bandwidth into several channels and selects an idle channel randomly for packet transmission. It also employs a notion of “soft” channel reservation as it gives preference to the channel that was used for the last successf...

Evaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
